Meet Our Managing Partner, John Gadeken!
1. What’s your job title at ServiceCore?
Partner, but my job is to do whatever needs to be done. Load the dishes, paint the boardroom, do sales calls, work on contracts, work with customers, but my favorite job is to make our team laugh.
2. Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Where you’re from: I was born in Nebraska and lived there for 6 weeks. Then moved to Colorado. I have lived in Greeley, Fort Collins, Boulder, Durango, Denver and now live in Castle Rock.
Where you went to school: I went to Fort Lewis College in Southern Colorado. I majored in Skiing. I graduated with honors. I finished my Masters of Arts at UNC.
Anything about your family, pets, etc: I have a very patient wife named Susan, but we call her Chester. I have two boys, Ben and Jake. Our family is rounded off with Tucker the killer golden-doodle.
3. What brought you to Colorado?
I was tossed in a car at six weeks old and forced against my will to come. Seriously, I have no recollection of any other place.
4. Favorite thing about Colorado?
I love the mountains. I have been skiing for 45 years. I bet I have close to 1,000 days on the hill. I also love to ride my mountain bike, hike and go to the cabin.
5. What’s your favorite thing to do in your free time?
Right now, I love my mountain bike. If I have time you will find me on a single track. The reason I don’t have a lot of freetime is my kids. Susan and I are always busy going to games, practices and their activities. Just the stage of life I’m in right now.
6. What other hobbies do you enjoy?
I collect knives, I probably have 300+. I also like to pheasant hunt, ride my motorcycle and I really like watching football. Although my Broncos are in a slump right now.
7. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done?
I’m not sure I can really go there in this type of format, but one crazy thing I can share is that I jumped out of a hot air balloon attached to a bungee cord.
8. Fun fact about yourself?
When I was 10 years old, I planted a bomb at the university center at the college where my dad worked. They had to evacuate the entire building.
So the back story is this…. I was in cub scouts and we were going to perform as a junkyard band. I made a ukulele out of an old wood box, it was wrapped in wire, etc. It was raining and I was running to the car and it fell out of my backpack. Someone found it and thought it was a bomb. They reported it to the police, the bomb squad was called and my ukulele secured. The local paper took pictures, wrote a story and put it on the front page of the paper. The Den mother saw this and started laughing as she recognized it as my junk yard ukulele. I was interviewed by the paper as the mad 10-year-old bomb suspect.
9. Anything you’d like to add?
I really love our clients, staff and our company. I’m very excited for the future of ServiceCore.
